A walk in a park can be considered a clichéd idea for a date, but I still believe there is no better way to get to know someone you have recently met or spend some quality time with your old hubby in a relaxed environment. Living in Toronto, many people forget what it is like to walk on a patch of grass larger than three square meters. For such people, a trip to the park is not only romantic, but also therapeutic. Take High Park, for example – located just south of High Park station, it is an island of unmolested nature in the midst of an urban city.
Although High Park has some inviting private trails a couple could stroll along, it also has many features a regular local parkette could only dream of. For example, High Park has a beautiful pond, along which runs a walkway – partially in the shadows of trees, partially out in the open, encrusted with seating areas open to charming views. For those more active, High Park has tennis courts, a skating rink, baseballs diamonds, and soccer fields. And if that does not tickle your fancy, you can always make a stop at the café, or enjoy a home-made snack at one of the many picnic areas located all over the park. For those unable to find a babysitter, High Park has few playgrounds and a small zoo that would keep your child content while you your spend time with your lovey-dovey.
This park offers magnificent views during any one of the four seasons, and there is always something to do. It is conveniently located next to the High Park subway station, and the size of it allows for a more private getaway in the urban jungle of Toronto.
