Afternoon tea at the Blackcreek Historic Brewery

Just opened in June 2009 to the public, the Black Creek Historic Brewery (BCHB) and Restaurant has recreated a working brewery as it would have been back in the mid-1800′s.  Clothed in traditional costumes of the era, the Black Creek Historic Brewery and restaurant handcraft the same ales and porters enjoyed in Ontario’s country villages before Confederation.  Students growing up with the Toronto District School Board might remember the field trips to Black Creek Pioneer village, where the BCHB is located, with the butter churns, animal farm and history lessons.  The same experience awaits with lunch’s, dinners and afternoon tea!

When Love In Toronto went for afternoon tea, $19.95 for two, we were delighted with a selection of English teas and an assortment of small sandwiches and scones.  While the sandwiches were adequate for tea drinking, it was the experience of the architecture, the courteous staff  and pleasing atmosphere that made the price a great value for about 1 hour for two people.  For those who’re also a bit hungrier, there’s also an entree menu and desserts to compliment your tea.  The whole visit to the BCHB can start with a walk around the Pioneer village and end off at the dining room within the brewery itself.  You can easily spend about 4 hours or an afternoon at this place and is especially nostalgic for those who haven’t been to the Pioneer village in a while.
